The NOESIS Web Site was registered in July 1997. The first forecast was published on August 7, 1997. Originally, it was anticipated that updates would occur monthly. However, when OPEC announced in late November that it would increase quotas by 10%, it became apparent that more frequent updates would be necessary. In a one year forecast published in early January, NOESIS forecasted the price of crude oil would go to $12.50 per barrel. Since that time, NOESIS has posted weekly updates. Interest in the NOESIS site has been much greater than we ever anticipated. Our weekly reports are read by over 6,000 users. We have 4355 subscribers to the news and update service. Daily "Hits" to the site range from 33,000 on Mondays to 6,000 toward the end of the week, with the average running around 6,750 per day. Many readers send questions, and so far, each letter has been answered, although many writers provide incorrect email addresses so the responses are sometimes returned. Our visitor list looks like a "WHO'S WHO" of the oil industry, with virtually every major oil company, support companies, and many oil producing nations represented. This page will be modified in the future to bring you more colorful and up-to-date statistics.
